73-78 Corvettes from the factory had a round case muffler which can be seen below your rear valance or bumper. In 79-82 GM went back to an oval case muffler, similar to what was used in 63-72. This muffler tucked up under the car and was not visible under your bumper. We call these "Hideaway."

THIS REDUCES ENGINE HEAT AND BACKPRESSURE AND IMPROVES EXHAUST SCAVENGING FROM THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. MAGNAFLOW MINIMIZES THE POWER ROBBING EFFECTS OF THE OEM SYSTEM TO RESTORE TORQUE AND HORSEPOWER TO THE ENGINE.
